This is an interview with Dr. Stanley Krippner. Krippner is an American psychologist and Alan Watts Professor of Psychology and executive faculty member of the Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center in San Francisco. Formerly Krippner was director of the Kent State University Child Study Center (of Kent, Ohio) and director of the Maimonides Medical Center Dream Research Laboratory (of Brooklyn, New York).

Mitchell, Apollo 14 astronaut and moonwalker, as well as a distinguished researcher of the study of human consciousness, brought together eminent scientists to write about issues once considered too controversial to discuss.
Advanced meditators occasionally report experiences of timelessness, or states of awareness that seem to transcend the usual boundaries of the subjective present. This study investigates this awareness in eight experienced meditators and eight matched controls by measuring 32 channels of EEG before, during, and after exposure to unpredictable light and sound stimuli.
A double-slit optical system was used to test the possible role of consciousness in the collapse of the quantum wavefunction. Each test session consisted of 40 counterbalanced attention-toward and attention-away epochs, and data was contributed by 137 people in six experiments, involving a total of 250 test sessions. The results appear to be consistent with a consciousness-related interpretation of the quantum measurement problem.
Previously reported experiments suggested that interference patterns generated by a double-slit optical system were perturbed by a psychophysical (i.e., mind–matter) interaction. Three new experiments were conducted to further investigate this phenomenon. The first study consisted of 50 half-hour test sessions where participants concentrated their attention-toward or -away from a double-slit system located 3 meters away.
Insight is the mind's magic in action, solving problems, understanding relationships, creating new images--with a speed and certainty unavailable to ordinary consciousness. Breakthrough insights go even further. They take a quantum leap beyond ordinary creativity and our previous ways of looking at things to a whole new method of resolving our difficulties. Almost all of us have experienced such moments in relation to work-oriented or personal problems and wish we could have them more often. In fact, we can.
