Science of Consciousness

While our materialistic paradigm would have us believe that our consciousness is housed in our physical brain and does not extend beyond it, there is growing evidence that this is actually not true.

A presentation that was given in February 2016 to the Chinmaya Mission in Princeton, New Jersey.

Stanley Krippner Interview

This is an interview with Dr. Stanley Krippner. Krippner is an American psychologist and Alan Watts Professor of Psychology and executive faculty member of the Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center in San Francisco. Formerly Krippner was director of the Kent State University Child Study Center (of Kent, Ohio) and director of the Maimonides Medical Center Dream Research Laboratory (of Brooklyn, New York).

Higher Creativity

Insight is the mind's magic in action, solving problems, understanding relationships, creating new images--with a speed and certainty unavailable to ordinary consciousness. Breakthrough insights go even further. They take a quantum leap beyond ordinary creativity and our previous ways of looking at things to a whole new method of resolving our difficulties. Almost all of us have experienced such moments in relation to work-oriented or personal problems and wish we could have them more often. In fact, we can.

Psychic Exploration

Psychic Exploration, A Challenge for Science is a primer on psychic research, life's purpose, and the meaning of the universe. Originally published in 1974, this landmark anthology of nearly thirty chapters on every area of psychic research is finally available again. Edgar D. Mitchell, Apollo 14 astronaut and moonwalker, as well as a distinguished researcher of the study of human consciousness, brought together eminent scientists to write about issues once considered too controversial to discuss.

Psychophysical Interactions with a Double-slit Interference Pattern

Previously reported experiments suggested that interference patterns generated by a double-slit optical system were perturbed by a psychophysical (i.e., mind–matter) interaction. Three new experiments were conducted to further investigate this phenomenon. The first study consisted of 50 half-hour test sessions where participants concentrated their attention-toward or -away from a double-slit system located 3 meters away.

Consciousness and the Double-slit Interference Pattern

A double-slit optical system was used to test the possible role of consciousness in the collapse of the quantum wavefunction. Each test session consisted of 40 counterbalanced attention-toward and attention-away epochs, and data was contributed by 137 people in six experiments, involving a total of 250 test sessions. The results appear to be consistent with a consciousness-related interpretation of the quantum measurement problem.

Electrocortical Activity Prior to Unpredictable Stimuli in Meditators and Non-meditators

Advanced meditators occasionally report experiences of timelessness, or states of awareness that seem to transcend the usual boundaries of the subjective present. This study investigates this awareness in eight experienced meditators and eight matched controls by measuring 32 channels of EEG before, during, and after exposure to unpredictable light and sound stimuli.

An Encyclopedia of Shamanism

Shamanism is the practice of maximizing the human abilities of mind and spirit for healing and problem solving. A term that comes from the Siberian tribal word for its practitioners, "shaman," shamans are a type of medicine man or woman especially distinguished by the use of journeys to hidden worlds through myth, dream, and near-death experiences. This inclusive two-volume encyclopedia combines the philosophy, concepts, and practical elements that make up Shamanism.

The Journey of Robert Monroe

In 1971 Doubleday published a book called Journeys Out of the Body, a Virginia businessman's memoir of his weird and wonderful adventures on other planes of reality. That book, which has sold more than a million copies, and that man, Robert Monroe, helped cement the concept of astral travel into the American psyche and made the "out-of-body experience" a household word.
